CLEAR ALLThe Exotic Shorthair originates from the Persian Breed Group that includes two of the oldest and most recognizable cat breeds; the Persian and Himalayan. These cat breeds share the same body type; however, Exotic Shorthair’s short, coarse hair varies from the Persian and Himalayan cats' thick, long hair.
The sweet-natured Exotic Shorthair is known as 'the lazy man's Persian' as they are perfect for those who love and adore the Persian look but don’t have the time or capability to take care of all that hair.
Exotic Shorthair have the same flat face, sweet, large, round eyes, and fat cheeks as the Persian cat. However, what makes them distinct is that they have a short, thick coat instead of a long flowing one.
Exotic Shorthairs have the same pansy-like sweet face and short nose together with their big eyes and the same short square body, which gives them a cuddly bear-like look. These loving cats have the Persian's calm manners but are bubblier and more curious, thanks to their shorthaired ancestry.
All in all, the Exotic Shorthair is an ideal breed for those who are searching for a sweet, quiet, loyal and peaceful feline companion. They are laid back, and it appears that nothing bothers them. Moreover, they are very affectionate as they quietly ask for your attention and affection by sitting in front of you with their irresistible look, staring straight into your eyes.
They love jumping into their human’s lap and will snuggle or nuzzle your face with their wet nose. Some Exotic Shorthairs even sit on your shoulder or hug you when you pet them. You will often see them lounging or napping in cool places like on a tiled floor or bricks
Exotic Shorthairs are ideal for most types of homes. These cats give their human companion their privacy and are not needy or demanding. Exotic Shorthairs are also playful and love interaction. They will leap until tired just to catch a toy on a stick. They are also smart enough to figure out how to get things from high spaces like bookcases and shelves.

The Exotic Shorthair is a stocky and heavy-boned medium to large cat breed with a large rounded head, full cheeks, small wide-set ears, and large round eyes. Their bodies are relatively short and compact, with strong thick legs and rounded paws with tufts of fur on the toes. Their tails are short and fluffy. Due to their Persian ancestry, these cats are brachycephalic which means they have flat faces and short noses which can predispose them to developing respiratory issues later in life. However, they are loved by families around the world for their teddy bear-like appearance and affectionate natures.
Exotic Shorthair cats boast a plush short to medium-length coat with a dense undercoat, which makes them easier to groom than their longhaired Persian cousins. These cats come in a wide variety of colours including black, silver, bi-colour, white, and calico (tortoiseshell and white). Their eye colour can also vary but are most commonly gold, green, or blue.
These cats are medium-large felines, weighing anything from 3-4.5kg.
The Exotic Shorthair is affectionately known as the ‘lazy man’s Persian’ due to its Persian-like sweet temperament and short easy to care for coat. These cats have become more popular in recent years for their gentle, easy-going personalities which makes them the perfect choice for families. Exotic Shorthairs are not as active as many other breeds and have an independent side which means they are more than happy to entertain themselves when their owners are not around. However, it is still important to keep their mind stimulated with puzzle feeders, games, and interactive toys. These cats are known to be incredibly devoted to their owners and will happily curl up on your lap when you are watching TV or even curl up on your shoulder when they are feeling a bit more adventurous!
Interestingly, males tend to be cuddlier than their female counterparts. Females generally have a more independent streak. Exotic Shorthairs are known to get along well with children due to their placid natures. For the same reason, they also generally get along well with other cats and cat-friendly dogs. They can be nervous around strangers at first but will soon warm up to them if they are given the time to investigate on their own terms.
Exotic Shorthair cats are affectionate and gentle, as well as being independent. This means they are suitable for a range of living environments from apartments to large houses. They are loved by families however they are also suitable for working couples or individuals that are looking for a loving feline to greet them when they return home from work. These cats get along well with children and other pets. However. they can be a little wary around strangers so they are not best suited for busy households that have regular visitors.
It is worth bearing in mind that these cats can easily overheat due to the brachycephalic nature of this breed. So, make sure you keep an eye on the temperature in your house in hot weather.

It's been a few months since we decided to find a Chihuahua puppy to join our family, however we had issues finding a good breeder.
We contacted The Pedigree Paws and they connected us with a very unique breeder in Greece. Many videos and pictures were shown, the breeder shared with us the proof of vaccinations, deworming and her 5 generation pedigree. We were fortunate as George, the breeder was able to deliver the puppy to us personally. We are very pleased with our beautiful Athena.
