CLEAR ALLDeveloped on the Isle of Skye and in the Scottish Highlands, the happy-go-lucky Cairn Terrier is a small working canine breed. Farmers used these alert and friendly terriers to help them get rid of vermin within their properties. These dogs are tenacious, courageous, and intelligent. Moreover, they are independent and amicable dogs, making them excellent family pets and canine companions.
Cairn Terriers are known to be affectionate and adaptable. They can do well in both apartments and large homes, either with first-time dog owners or experienced dog lovers. However, because of their high energy, they require an active lifestyle that should include regular walks and play sessions. Also, it is worth noting that these active dogs do not appreciate being left home alone for long periods. So, make sure to provide plenty of affection and attention.
These spunky canines boast a short, shaggy coat that is relatively easy to maintain. And, while no breed is 100% hypoallergenic, individuals who suffer from dog allergies tend to report fewer issues with this breed.

The Cairn Terrier is a small dog breed, standing 24 to 25 cm and typically weighing between 6 and 6.5 kg. They have a compact and well-proportioned body, giving them an endearing and charming appeal.
This sturdy pup has well-developed hindquarters with muscular thighs, supple loins, a level back, and well-sprung ribs. They carry their short tail high, adding to their alert and lively appearance.
Sitting upon their well-set neck is a relatively broad and slightly rounded head, with dark, alert eyes that sparkle with intelligence and curiosity. One of their most prominent features is their bushy, expressive eyebrows, which add to their lively and mischievous expression.
The Cairn Terrier's ears are small, pointed, and stand erect. Their nose is black and well-developed, and their jaws are strong, equipped with a perfect scissor bite.
Cairns boast a weather-resistant double coat that comprises a harsh and wiry outer layer and a soft, dense undercoat. Their fur comes in various colours, including cream, wheat, red, and grey, with darker shades often found on the ears and muzzle. This textured coat adds to their visual appeal and provides protection when they delve into their terrier duties.
Don't let their small size fool you! The Cairn Terrier packs a punch when it comes to personality. Cairns are energetic and enthusiastic, always ready for adventure and play.
They possess an intelligent and curious mind, making them quick learners and problem solvers, though they can have an independent streak. They enjoy interactive games, fetching toys, and participating in training sessions that challenge their minds.
These dogs are known for their spirited and feisty nature, which stems from their history as tenacious hunters. They are courageous, but this does not mean they lack affection. Instead, Cairns are hopelessly devoted to their families, forming strong bonds with their humans whom they often seek attention and love from.
Cairn Terriers can be pretty alert and vocal, which makes them good watchdogs who will alert you of any perceived threats. However, they are generally friendly and social with other animals and people. They thrive when regularly around people but do not appreciate being left alone for long periods.
The Cairn Terrier's primary need is regular attention and affection from their owners. Thus, they may not be the best fit for you if you and your family lead busy lifestyles and are regularly out of the house.
Cairns are playful and energetic, so a home with a secure garden is ideal. Even so, these dogs have been known to adapt to apartments and flats but bear in mind, some of these pups can be pretty vocal.
Their playful and mischievous spirit makes Cairn Terriers wonderful companions for children, thriving in an active and engaging environment. Moreover, they can be great companions in multi-pet households if they receive proper socialisation when young. Still, remember that they are terriers, so they should not be left alone with smaller pets, such as cats.

It's been a few months since we decided to find a Chihuahua puppy to join our family, however we had issues finding a good breeder.
We contacted The Pedigree Paws and they connected us with a very unique breeder in Greece. Many videos and pictures were shown, the breeder shared with us the proof of vaccinations, deworming and her 5 generation pedigree. We were fortunate as George, the breeder was able to deliver the puppy to us personally. We are very pleased with our beautiful Athena.
